Attachment

Attachment is not love. Attachment is dependence. Attachment is a form of addiction.

Attachment is a relationship based on selfishness.

Loving someone or something is fine. But when conditions or expectations are placed upon that relationship, the love is downgraded to mere attachment for selfish reasons.

When we love our partner or children, that love must be without expectations. When our expectations restrict their freedom, it becomes attachment where we expect others to conform to our desires.

Attachments, often based on ego, greed and lust, lead to unhappiness and sorrow for both parties.
